Kris Moe moved to the Sonoma California to run his golf schools at Sonoma Golf Club in 1995. That same year was the first year he started making his own wine after a run of making his own beer.Twelve years later he started his own label, 19th Hole to share with the world.
"I enjoy the entire process of making wine. Living in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys since 1992 helped draw me into the making and selling wine.I continue making about 250 cases of our limited wines (Cabs and Merlot retail at $25 plus) at Cahill Winery in Sebastopol, where I have an alternating propriortor relationship, but most of what we do is sourcing good wines from various places in California so we can keep our prices down in the $10 range."
Kris still runs his Top 25 rated golf school in America, Kris Moe Golf Schools (Napa and Pebble Beach) but most of his time now is with finding good wine and supporting wine sales with his distributors and brokers.
Kris Moe attended San Diego State University from 1979-1984 and was twice an All-American and won the California Amateur in 1983 before turning professional in Australia. He's played tournaments in over thirty countries including the U.S. and European PGA Tours and his most notable finish was a 25th in the 1985 British Open. His most recent victory was the Hawaii State Open in 2004.
Kris has two boys, Kevin and Erik, who are 13 and 9 years old and a loving and usually supportive wife named Karen. They live in the middle of the Sonoma Valley. Kris enjoys being a dad, outdoor activities and has enough golf game to still consider playing the Champion's Tour in 2011.
