19th Hole Golf Wine Pairings
If you love wine and you've clicked into this page you probably love to cook too. This page is to offer up some fun ways to enjoy your love of golf and wine. It might be wrapping up a great golf day with friends with dinner at your house or simply snacks and glass of wine while watching a tour event. .
There happens to be a lot of good golf movies out there that maybe you haven't seen. We think they are a great pairing with some good food, wine and friends or family. And because we think it is possible to "turn every occasion into a 19th Hole" here are few fun pairings that you may enjoy sampling.
Movie Night with 19th Hole Wine and a Fun Golf FlickWith the U.S. Open coming up in June my pick for you're 19th Hole movie night is Dead Solid Perfect with Randy Quaid or Bagger Vance with Will Smith.
To pair with one of these movies go get a pizza or even better make your own along with our 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon. To make pizza your chef skills only need to be about a 18 handicap, meaning it's fairly easy. More advanced cooks probably already have a pizza stone or something similar (makes a better pizza) but you surely don't have to have this.
At many stores these days you can buy the dough and all you have to do is roll or stretch it out. Making the dough from scratch is what I'd suggest. A quick Google search will get you some great recipes to follow, like this one.
As for the goodies on the pizza that's your choice. You can keep it simple and true with just a cheese topping and maybe some slices pepperoni or you can get creative with whatever ingrediants wet your appetite. I think you'll find after making a few pizzas at home you'll probably start experimenting more and more with various other interesting toppings.
Here's some other good golf movies to check out- Caddy Shack, Tin Cup, The Greatest Game Ever Played, Bobby Jones, Stroke of Genius, Miracle on the 17th Green and Happy Gilmore.
What pairs well with watching the US Open at Pebble Beach?Every major is a treat to watch especially with all the great players in the scene these days. Aside from Tiger and Phil these days we are lucky to some some great young players like Anthony Kim, Rory McIlroy and Ishikawa who just shot a 58 to win a tournament in Japan!
I don't know yet who is being paired with Tiger Woods but I do know our Chardonnay is a
good pairing with watching the event. Our Chardonnay is lightly oaked and has a relatively low alcohol of 13.5%.
Keeping it simple, make yourself a turkey sandwich (I think the easiest sandwich to make) or if you're willing to get a little more fancy try this recipe.
Stay tuned for the British Open pairing in July.
